This 5-day laboratory class provides a hands-on introduction to fermentation
technology. Class participants will learn to set-up and run 5-litre bench-scale
fermenters, as well as how to collect and analyze data during the fermentation. The class is being taught in the BioTechnology Institute's Biotechnology Resource Center, the University's central fermentation pilot plant. The head instructor is Dr. Fred Schendel, who has over 25 years of industrial and academic experience across a broad range of fermentation processes. The laboratory work is complemented by lectures on critical fermentation and biocatalysis topics given by BioTechnology Institute faculty members. Class detailsLaboratory Schedule: M-F: 8am-5pm.
