RESOURCES FOR FACULTY, STAFF AND STUDENTS
Resources provided by the Institute include highly qualified research scientists and state-of-the-art equipment. These are utilized by faculty and companies alike to scale up ideas from the discovery stage to a level permitting assessment of technological feasibility and potential for commercialization.
BIODALE
Located in the basement of Gortner Labs and adjacent Snyder Hall, Biodale is a consortium of University of Minnesota research service facilities that offer state-of-the-art instrumentation and user-friendly, walk-in service and training. Members of the business community, as well as the University community, are invited to use Biodale services and equipment. Each facility is staffed by specialized scientists and technicians.
BIOCATALYSIS
The University of Minnesota has a long tradition and world-class expertise in the science of biocatalysis, the use of biological catalysts and processes to transform plant material into useful products. Biocatalysis enables renewable resources, such as forests, grasslands, and the wheat and corn raised by farmers, to become the new raw materials for our production and energy needs. Modern collaborative approaches to the biological, chemical, engineering, and information sciences are making possible a broad-ranging understanding and utilization of biocatalysis, and the University has positioned itself as a hub of biocatalysis-related research with resources including laboratory facilities and online databases.
GENOMICS
Advanced resources and facilities at various laboratories and research centers within the University provide genetic analysis services to promote genomics and proteomics research. Both equipment and professional staff are available to assist students and scientists.
