The Encyclopedia of Bioprocess Technology will be
available online in 2003 on the Wiley
website.
The Encyclopedia of Bioprocess Technology, edited
by Prof. Flickinger and Prof. Steven Drew (Princeton University),
presents the state-of-the-art in bioprocess technology in
biotechnology, focusing on fermentation, biocatalysis and
bioseparations. It is 5 volumes totalling 2,756 pages. The
encyclopedic/alphabetical format provides easy access to individual
entries written by over 350 experienced scientists and engineers
from both academia and industry. Each biotechnology industry
has matured and important generic manufacturing technologies
are now well developed and ready for such treatment. Thus,
individual entries address the fundamentals and applications
of bioprocess technology providing both depth and breadth
of coverage. All entries include basic theory and fundamental
understanding; moreover, they focus on current "hands-on"
industrial practice including relevant manufacturing technology,
process and facilities engineering, and their interface with
regulatory requirements worldwide. Entries co-authored by
experts from both industry and academia provide comprehensive,
well-balanced, hard-hitting coverage. The Encyclopedia is
supplemented with hundreds of graphics and photographs to
enrich the understanding of bioprocess technology at an industrial
scale.
