About the BRC

Since 1986, the Biotechnology Resource Center (BRC) has successfully completed hundreds of fermentation and protein expression projects executed under professionally managed contract agreements that insure confidentiality and intellectual property protection.

THE TEAM

A team of highly dedicated scientists and engineers can guide and answer the challenges of your project. Each team member has advanced training in molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, or biochemical engineering, plus extensive hands-on experience across a broad range of industrial and academic settings.

THE FACILITY

The BRC is located in Gortner Laboratory on the University of Minnesota's St. Paul campus and is designed to accommodate a broad range of projects simultaneously with state-of-the-art equipment that is well maintained and updated.

Through faculty consulting arrangements, we bring the expertise of the University's leading faculty members into your team.

Protein purification advances

Funding recently acquired through the UM/Mayo partnership has allowed the BRC to upgrade its protein purification capabilities.

BRC open house

An open house is being planned for Fall of 2010 to showcase the BRC's new 500-liter fermenter and renovated space featuring the chiller system and centrifuge. Check back for more details about this upcoming event.

Meet BRC Director Tim Tripp

Itasca

As Program Director of the University of Minnesota BioTechnology Institute, Tim Tripp also oversees operation of the Biotechnology Resource Center. Tripp is a microbiologist with a Masters degree in Business Administration and industry experience at multiple lifescience-based companies. more >>
